Clinical Experience
The heart of Brooke's work has been working with women in residential and outpatient substance abuse and eating disorder treatment, which has facilitated her specializing in issues related to substance abuse, eating disorder, trauma, relational issues, anxiety, and depression. Brooke completed her practicum at Casa Youth Shelter, with a focus on working with adolescents (ages 12-18) and their families in crisis. Following her practicum year at Casa Youth Shelter, Brooke worked at the shelter facilitating psychoeducation groups for teens teaching coping and communication skills. T
In addition to her work as a therapist, Brooke has a passion for helping young adults seek their educational and career goals. Brooke entered the field of chemical dependency helping individuals pursue their academic careers, heading the education-focussed programs at Sober Living by the Sea and Northbound Treatment Services.
Education
Brooke earned her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Fullerton and her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Bucknell University.
Areas of Interest and Training
While in graduate school, Brooke focussed her research on the use of Somatic Experiencing and the treatment of female adolescents with childhood sexual abuse histories. Brooke is a trained Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and utilizes SE techniques with her clients.
